The popular BitTorrent index site – KickassTorrents has relocated to a new domain name as of today. The move is a follow up to their regular policy of changing domains, and can now be located at kickass.so. In a statement, KickassTorrents owners mentioned that apart from now using a Somalian top-level domain, no other aspects of the service have changed. This means that their enormous mass of daily visitors will not experience anything other than a minor redirect when reaching the website.
Although the torrent index is well-know worldwide, the large bulk of their traffic comes from the USA and India. However, Google’s recently implemented anti-piracy measures have played a big hand in the heavy dip in traffic that the site has experienced. The decrease in visitors is particularly visible from October 2014, since Google began to downgrade sites with the most complaints for copyright infringement. KickassTorrents will be hoping that the domain name move will help revive some of the lost traffic in the coming year.
